Three Lipstick/Nailpolish Combinations for Every Occation

Although I usually never coordinate my lip and nail colour, I have to admit, it does look nice and put together when you wear the same colour on your lips and nails. I somehow feel like I have my life together when that happens, ha! Today I’ll share three shades of liquid lipstick and nailpolish with you that work for any occasion!

One of my favourite lip products of all time are the Sephora Cream Lip Stains. Don’t be fooled by the name. The product itself is not a traditional stain but Sephora’s take on liquid lipstick (although the darker colours will stain your lips after a while). These have been around even before the whole liquid lipstick craze began and have stood the test of time. I bought my first one in 2014, while I was living in New York to pursue my dream of dancing. Naturally I picked the shade number 01, a bright bold colour called “Always Red”, and wore it day in and day out – on stage, in dance class, to go out with friends and also during the day. Back then I had no idea what liquid lipsticks were. All I knew is that I loved the wear-time, the pigment and how matte it dried, once it was applied. To this day I think the formula of these cream stains can compete with lots of other products of the same type. In December 2016 Sephora expanded the shade range from 14 to 41, which makes this line one of the biggest on the market.

DAY
Sephora Cream Lip Stain “13 Marvelous Mauve” & Essence Gel Nailpolish “Love me Like you Do”
Out of the three options shown, this probably is my favourite. I can’t tell you how much wear I have been getting out of these two products in the last couple of months alone. I am a big fan of mauve everything (lipsticks, nailpolishes, blushes, clothing, interior,…), so naturally I am very much in love with this lip and nail combo. It is perfect for everyday wear but also sophisticated enough to wear on special occasions like weddings, proms or other fancy gatherings. I especially wanted to mention the beautiful quality of the Essence Gel Nailpolishes. They last amazingly and are incredibly affordable!

NIGHT
Sephora Cream Lipstain “14 Blackberry Sorbet” & Essie Nailpolish “In the Lobby”
These two are a match made in heaven for a sultry statement look. Both are deep berry shades that have a purple undertone. This kind of colour is quite versatile – despite its darkness – and would look beautiful on both pale and darker skin tones. I treasure this combo for nights out, evenings spent in the theater and when I just want to look like I made a lot of effort, even thought I haven’t. (We all have those days, don’t we?)

FOOL-PROOF
Sephora Cream Lip Stain “01 Always Red” & OPI Nailpolish “The Thrill of Brazil”
Growing up in the dance studio and on stage, red lipstick was the first ever lipstick I owned. Even as a kid I had to wear a bright red lipstick for every on-stage event and to this day I love wearing a red lipstick because it makes me feel confident and reminds me of the times spent on stage and in New York. A nailpolish that matches this colour perfectly is OPI “The Thrill of Brazil”, a vibrant true red. Although the OPI polish doesn’t last too well on me (usually only two days), I don’t mind, since it is a classic Hollywood Red, that every girl should have on hand. These two make a powerful statement and will make you feel like a million bucks!

I cannot recommend the Sephora Cream Lipstains and their matching nailpolishes enough and will definitely get more of the newer lipstick shades once I get the chance to visit a Sephora.

Obwohl ich eigentlich selten bewusst meine Lippen und Nagellacke aufeinander abstimme, gefällt mir dieser Look sehr gut. Heute zeige ich euch drei verschiedene Lippenstift- und Nagellack-Farben, die für jeden Anlass funktionieren.

Eines meiner liebsten Lippenprodukte sind die Sephora Cream Lip Stains. Der Name ist eigentlich etwas falsch, denn die Lippenfarben sind weniger Stains (obwohl sie die Lippen doch ein wenig färben), sondern Sephoras Version von Liquid Lipsticks. Die Reihe gab es schon lange bevor der ganze Hype um Liquid Lipsticks ausbrach. Meine erste Farbe der Linie legt ich mir 2014 zu, als ich noch als Tänzerin in New York lebte. Natürlich griff ich damals zur Farbe Nummer 01, einem knalligen Rot mit dem Namen “Always Red”. Ich trug die Farbe tag aus tagein – auf der Bühne, in den Tanzstunden, zum Ausgehen und im Alltag. Damals hatte ich keine Ahnung was Liquid Lipsticks eigentlich sind, sondern war einfach nur begeistert von der langen Haltbarkeit, der Pigmentierung und dem matten Look. Bis heute haben die Cream Lip Stains eine meiner liebsten Texturen und können meiner Meinung nach mit allen anderen Produktlinien der selben Art mithalten. Im Dezember 2016 erweiterte Sephora die Farbpalette von 14 auf 41 Farben.

Ich bin ein großer Fan von Mauve und trage eine Variation der Farbe beinahe täglich – so ist auch dieses Lippenprodukt von Sephora laufend in Verwendung. Der Ton ist perfekt für den Alltag, aber auch schick genug, um ihn an speziellen Anlässen wie Hochzeiten oder Bällen zu tragen. Hier möchte ich auch noch die super Qualität der Essence Nagellacke hervorheben. Ich trage privat fast ausschließlich Essie, bin aber auch ein großer Fan der Essence Gel Polishes, da das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis einfach unglaublich gut ist!

ABEND

Dieses Duo ist perfekt für einen sinnlichen Statement-Look. Beide Produkte haben einen violetten Unterton. Obwohl beide Farben recht speziell sind, würden sie sicher an hellen wie auch dunklen Hauttypen sehr hübsch aussehen. Diese Kombination ist meine liebste für Ausgeh-Abende und spezielle Anlässe. Ich trage sie aber auch gerne an Tagen, an denen ich keine Lust habe mich besonders zu schminken, aber trotzdem aussehen will, als hätte ich mir extra viel Mühe gegeben. (Wir haben alle solche Momente, stimmts?)

KLASSISCH
Sephora Cream Lip Stain “01 Always Red” & OPI Nagellack “The Thrill of Brazil”
Da ich seit meiner Kindheit tanze und auf der Bühne stehe, war mein allererster Lippenstift natürlich Rot. Schon als Kind war roter Lippenstift auf der Bühne ein Muss. Bis zum heutigen Tag trage ich gerne rote Lippen, weil ich mich damit selbstbewusst fühle und die Farbe mich an die vielen Male auf der Bühne und die Zeit in New York erinnert. Ich kombiniere meinen Sephora Liquid Lipstick am liebsten mit dem OPI Nagellack “The Thrill of Brazil”, einem knalligen, klassischen Rot ohne spezielle Untertöne. Obwohl der OPI Nagellack an mir nicht die beste Haltbarkeit hat (circa zwei Tage), kann ich darüber hinwegsehen, weil die schöne Farbe alles wieder wettmacht.

Von mir gibt es eine klare Empfehlung für die Sephora Cream Lipstains und die eben genannten Nagellacke. Meine Lippen- und Nagel-Garderobe hätte mit diesen Farben eigentlich schon ausgesorgt, wenn es doch nicht so viele andere Farben gäbe… 😉
